Have a question about Taekwondo? Your answer is
probably here!
What is Taekwondo and how is it different from other martial
arts?
The martial arts were developed thousands of years ago as a form of
self-defense. Kung Fu came from China while Karate originated in Japan.
Native to Korea is Taekwondo. In terms of techniques, Taekwondo has more
emphasis on kicks than other forms of martial arts, making it helpful in
improving your child's balance, endurance, and flexibility.
At what age can children start?
Children as young as 4 can take part in our Little Tiger Taekwondo
program which is geared towards children of that age. Currently, that
class is on Mondays and Wednesdays of each week. Our staff will use
their experience to teach them and get your toddler ready for more
advanced Taekwondo courses. This gives all of our beginners the greatest
advantage from our Taekwondo classes.
Does it increase aggressiveness?
Absolutely not. Your child will be taught from the beginning that they
can never misuse their martial arts skills. Throughout their training,
they will be reminded that being mentally and physically tough does not
allow one to be a bully to others. Instead, Taekwondo students are
expected to be humble, courteous, respectful, and careful about when and
where they practice their skills. The instructors at Kim's Champion
Taekwondo will continually educated your child that Taekwondo is a form
of exercise and self improvement, not a tool for bullying.
Can I take classes with my child?
Yes. In fact, it is encouraged for the entire family to participate
together as a group. It is an exciting way to combine a workout with a
new learning experience together. At Kim's Champion Taekwondo, we offer
a course designed for families to participate together on Mondays and
Wednesdays. You will have a great time and create special family bonds.
How safe is it to learn?
Students are shown techniques in a step-by-step manner by our expert
instructors. A thorough stretching routine, matted flooring, and
protective safety equipment are all apart of our commitment to ensuring
your safety. These keys give our students the ability to develop their
skills at their own pace.
What if I have never done Taekwondo before or if I'm out of
shape?
At Kim's Champion Taekwondo, we have ongoing enrollment, so beginners
are always welcome! Our special trial program listed on the front page
of this site makes it easy for new students of all fitness levels to get
started. First time students receive one-on-one instruction designed to
answer common questions you might have as well as provide an
introduction to the basics of Taekwondo. In addition, the belt system
used in Taekwondo allows all students to train at their own pace and
improve their physical condition gradually.
